Between the 15th and 17th of June, I conducted my friends Luiz Damasceno, Aeneas Loreto and José Luiz for the Itatiaia National Park.
We started on the 15th with a very dark and dark weather, we had just entered a cold front in the area, but even then we went to the lower part of the park. We arrived still very dark to the point of the Such’s Antthrush singer and even before getting out of the car it was already raining, I showed the place where the tovaca would pass and they did not care about the rain and it did not take 10 minutes and the Such’s Antthrush appeared in the place and even with the rain rising, she turned up well for the staff to make great photos of her. Then we went to try the Slaty Bristlefront but the rain increased even more. We decided to abort the day and start over the next day.
On the morning of the 16th we went straight to the top of the park, the rain gave a respite but in compensation came a fog that made it difficult to photograph the birds, but we did not give up. But it was not too long and the rain started again, as it was almost lunch time we returned to the Bar do Miguelzinho to make a snack and wait for the rain and fog to pass. Still in the bar who gave the air of grace were the Brassy-breasted Tanager and Buff-throated Warbling-Finch, we stood there and play until the rain stopped. But later we went back up the road and it was not that the sun appeared, it’s too late. But even so, I could photograph some birds.
On the 17th, even before arriving at the inn where they were staying I found four parrots along the way, I made a quick stop to take some photos. After the coffee we left for the lower part again for another attempt to photograph the Slaty Bristlefront and this time there was sun and soon we managed to find him in the front .. Who also decided to appear was the Black Hawk-Eagle that landed on the Hotel Donati this morning , the king vulture was also there. We finished our expedition at lunchtime because today was Brazil’s game day …
Until the next expedition ..
