Between the 2nd and 5th of March I went with the couple of friends José Luiz Massoco and his wife Cristina to the Serra da Bocaina National Park in order to show the couple not only the birds, but all the beauty of this region that no doubt delights any.
On the 2nd we arrived at Pousada Recanto da Floresta by our friend José Milton already at the end of the afternoon. Soon after we settled down we waited to darken and we went to see the striped owl that soon came to us meeting very close to several photos.
On day 3 we left early in the morning, well before breakfast. We went to observe and photograph some birds around the inn. At this exit, Jose got some new records, such as the monkey-friar, the pinhão chest, the whistler borralhara, the pale aridio, the pula pula whistler, the cuiú-cuiú, the buffalo, the butterflies of the bush, the trepadorzinho, the tangará. After breakfast we walked and passed by the road that leads to the waterfall of Santo Isidro. On the way we find the little black-capped busboy and also the pinion chest. Already at the waterfall we did a lot of nice photos, which encouraged José to enter the water that was very cold …
We returned for lunch and the rain began and it did not stop until the night, but we were still photographing the hummingbirds on the porch of the inn. Lots of ruby hummingbirds and white pussy there.
The night when the rain gave a truce we returned to owl, but only took time to photograph the striped owl again and the rain returned ..
On day 3 we left before coffee through the mountain road and to our surprise we were able to see and photograph 8 swallows with a back acanelado next to a flock of more than 30 small swallows of house. Later on, we also had pictures of a crawler, black moth with plume, tororó, arapaçu de cerrado, carrapateiro, maria negra with red throat, caterpillar. We returned to the café and left again for the Serra da Bocaina, and we saw and photographed several other cool birds: brambled arapaçu, barred woodpecker, gray scissors, viuvinha.
It was 3 cool and fun days for the Serra da Bocaina.
