During the 20th to the 28th of August 2019, I prepared a trip for bird photography in the state of Amazonas with friends Osmar, Silas and the couple Hans and Eliana. There were eight days traveling through cities in the state of Amazonas (Manaus, Presidente Figueiredo, Manacapuru, Careiro da Várzea, Iranduba and Novo Airão. By car, boat and trails, many birds were seen and photographed by the group. local customs and cuisine, where their specialty is fish, the tambaqui de banda is undoubtedly one of the most sought after dishes, along with banana farofa.

These were fun days, despite the strong heat in the Manaus region. We started in the city of Manaus where we stayed, on the first note we went on a hike where we managed to photograph the mother of the giant moon. The next day we left for Presidente Figueiredo. Our main goal there was the guianan cock of the rock, a bird with an orange color that stands out in the forest.

Another bird that is well sought after by observers and photographers from all over the world is the Musician Wren, a bird whose song has a very pleasant melody to our ears. When he sings the forest is silent.

We said goodbye to Presidente Figueiredo and returned to Manaus, our next objective was the tower of the Museum of the Amazon known as Torre do Musa, with its 42 meters high and 242 steps. Despite the strong heat we can see many birds from above. The view from up there is fantastic, a sea of forest everywhere.

After lunch we went to Manacapuru, a city two hours from Manaus, where we stayed for 3 nights. The inn where we stayed has a spa inside where we could cool off in its icy waters. Many birds over there also like the Screaming Piha, which has the song known as the sound of the Amazon.

We also went to the Anavilhanas National Park, where we can find a yellow, red and black bird called Wire-tailed Manakin. The eyes of this little colorful bird are beautiful.
